Community Guidelines

Last updated: 22 April 2026

Community Network is a place to meet people through your real-world communities. Everyone is here because someone vouched for them, so the bar for behaviour is high. These guidelines apply everywhere on the platform — posts in the news feed, check-ins, comments, profile fields, community names and descriptions, and direct messages. Content that violates them is removed automatically or after a report, and repeat violations lead to temporary or permanent account restrictions.

1. Hate speech and harassment

No slurs, dehumanising language, or calls for violence aimed at people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected categories. This applies whether the target is a specific person, a group, or anyone reading. Targeted harassment of a specific person — name-calling, threats, doxxing, organising pile-ons — is treated the same way regardless of the target's characteristics.

2. Threats and incitement to violence

Direct threats ("I will kill you"), incitement ("kill all X"), suicide encouragement ("go die / kys"), and detailed how-to instructions for violent acts are removed and the author is banned. Discussing self-harm in the context of seeking help is allowed; we surface support resources to anyone whose post triggers our crisis classifier.

3. Sexual content

Public surfaces (feed posts, check-ins, profile photos, community pages) must keep content non-sexual. Nudity, sexual acts, and overtly sexual descriptions are not allowed. Private 1:1 and group conversations between consenting adults follow a relaxed standard: explicit material between participants who've opted in is not auto-blocked, but the report and block buttons remain available to anyone who receives unwanted content. Any sexual content involving minors — real or fictional, image or text — is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the author is permanently banned and forwarded to law enforcement where applicable.

4. Impersonation, identity, and fake accounts

Don't impersonate other real people, brands, or organisations. Don't claim verification, credentials, or affiliations you don't hold. Bot accounts that don't disclose their automated nature are removed.

5. Spam, scams, and manipulation

No mass-promoting links, no coordinated inauthentic behaviour, no fake reviews or fake check-ins, no schemes that try to extract money, credentials, or crypto from other members ("send 0.1 BTC, get 0.2 back", etc.). The same applies to fake "discount" offers that redirect to phishing pages.

6. Privacy of others

Don't share another person's address, phone number, financial details, passport / ID images, or other private information without their permission. Forwarding someone's private DM screenshots to a public surface is also a violation.

7. Illegal activity

Content that facilitates illegal activity — drug sales, weapons sales, human trafficking, stolen credentials, sale of CSAM, child exploitation — is removed and the author is banned. Where the activity rises to the level of a serious crime, we cooperate with law enforcement.

8. How moderation works

Every public post, check-in, comment, profile field, community description, avatar and shared image runs through an automated classifier before it goes live. Content the classifier blocks never reaches other users. Borderline content (where the classifier is uncertain) is allowed but flagged for a human reviewer. Members can also report any content they see — three independent reports auto-hides the content pending review. Repeat violations escalate: three warnings within seven days lead to a 24-hour pause, five within thirty days lead to a permanent ban. Severe violations (genocidal hate, sexual content involving minors, direct threats with named targets) bypass the gradual escalation and result in immediate permanent bans.

How to report content

Every post, comment, photo, message, and profile has a "Report" option in its menu. Reports are reviewed by humans and acted on within 48 hours. For urgent issues — threats, doxxing, CSAM — contact support directly using the link below.
